are you talking about recording as midi notes? when you play the pattern? because they haven't fixed that yet its been around since way back.

well pretty much this is the only problem that AudioRealism or ABleton haven't fixed, I dont think its an ABLETON problem I actually think its audiorealism, but hey us customers pay money, and no matter how many times we want specific improvements, we dont work for the company so they can say "yea we are thinking about fixing some problems the community brought up but really, at our board meetings we just decided to focus on w.e issues we thought were more necessary"

it aint gonna get fixed, anyway
the way around it is to make a new Audio Track and 'receive audio' from ABL2, arm it then record your pattern and crop the sample in your audio track and then fuck around with it ...

its actually really disappointing because ABL2 was made because of the following reasons:
1) Not enough Tb 303's were made
2) Some people cant afford Tb 303's, hence ABL2 becomes the closes substitute but the problem is, you can never perform live withit unless you improvise on the spot because you cannot add the 'cutoff' 'resosnance' 'env mod' on your audio track sample because its a SAMPLE not a LIVE FEED

aynway im kind of drunk so I will stop rambling hopefully one day audiorealism will actually fix this problem which has been an issue for quite some time in their product ...

I'm getting a 303 myself soon so till then im going to have to deal with just using audio samples and coming up with my own cutoff, resonance, envelope mod, decay, and accent tools myself .. fucking wack

anywAY

good night

i don't know what might be the problem with your setups, but it works for me.. you just have to use another midi track that captures the midi notes from abl2, then you can record them.
if you just mean knob movements, those are recorded with vst automation.

i just fired up live 7.0.16 and made this screenshot which shows the routing and the midi-clip containing notes created by abl2.

Hi Jonnyfromspace,

When we added the midi out capability we made a note that it was an "unsupported feature" - meaning that we knew the feature might be buggy in some hosts and since we can't guarantee it would work everywhere we considered it more an extra than something we promote the product with. I'm sorry that if its not working and people expect support for it we will have to remove it from future updates.

Remember - we're a very small company (basically I do all the developer work myself, although I have been looking around for a second developer). There really are no board meetings.. But we have been quite responsive to previous feature suggestions. Midi export (via a file) will be in ABL2.2, maybe this will be more preferred over using the midi out feature. We also have a kick ass distortion replacement (designed by one of the top dsp guys in our industry, Antti) which will also be in the update. I have no idea when this will ship though, as I'm completely busy with other projects. Critical bugfixes still have high priority though.
