I have to agree with nice "juicy" distortion and hopefully delay as well (resources permitting) with individual routing - ReBirth RB-338 type.
Also since I am the owner of ABL2 I would like to see 2 way sync option - iDrum type.
That's all from me, TechoBox is and should remain as a sketch pad - for the time when one is away from their studio and has sudden boost of inspiration. _________________ i7 iMac 2.7GHz 8GB RAM, OS X.6.7, iPad 3G 64 GB, Apogee Duet, Novation Remote 37SL, LaunchPad, Behringer BCF-2000, Cubase 6, Ableton Live 8, Reason 5, Record, various VST's, AU's and hardware synths, etc; |

Hello from NYC! Your software is simply amazing - thank you for all your hard work. I just bought it yesterday... and can't believe how realistic the sounds are. I used to own an 808 and have played extensively with the whole family both live and in studio- so props to you!
My wishlist:
- A way to see what session you're currently in would be... helpful(?) for live sets. Maybe that's just me. Perhaps session name appears on far left of instrument-box sideways (there's space there).
- Alter each percussion sound (hold sound and sliders pop up for: volume, sample-select, tuning, panning, efx-send) Wowzer for live sets...!
- Mute perc sound (double tap??)
- I love the idea of MIDI sync if it's possible. How crazy would that be?
Reaching a bit, I know... but your fab toy has inspired me.

| Quote: | Wireless MIDI on iPhone: Open Source Motion Control Talks to Nintendo DS, Computer
The Cupertino-Mushroom Kingdom gap has been closed: you can now mix and match DS and iPhone/iPod touch for wireless control of music and visuals. DSMI, the homebrew library that has enabled wireless and serial MIDI connections from the Nintendo DS, has come to iPod touch and iPhone. That means anyone building instruments and controllers on the iThing can now add wireless MIDI controllers that talk to computers - or other mobile devices, including the DS. It also means that DSMI’s acronym standing for “Nintendo DS Music Interface” has only one word that describes all the things it does.
If you’re a developer, you can grab the open source (LGPL-licensed) code. If you’re a user, apps are already supporting the new wireless features. There’s MIDI Motion Machine, which provides tilt and 16 triggers, and iXY, a 99-cent app for KAOSS Pad-style X/Y touch control. The MIDI Motion Machine author, TheRain, takes an interesting approach: there’s both a free and pay version, and the free version has source code.
Tobias Weyand, DSMI’s original co-creator along with TheRain, writes:
My friend TheRain has ported DSMI to the iPhone! This enables iPhone deveopers to easily integrate wireless MIDI in their applications, making it possible to control any MIDI application on the PC with the iPhone. The Wifi-to-MIDI bridge is the same DSMI server application that is also used for the DS, thus it works with Windows, OSX and Linux.
Also, like on the DS, both OSC and MIDI are supported!
DSMI for iPhone is available from our Google Code site (http://code.google.com/p/dsmi/) together with an open source example application called MIDI Motion Machine that is a tilt-based xy-controller.
The cool thing is that this library takes away all the hassle of communicating MIDI messages to the PC and makes development of MIDI controllers very very simple. So, we hope that people will use the DSMI to create a lot of innovative iPhone MIDI controller apps.
Pretty cool, isn’t it?
By the way, if you’re a loyal Nintendo DS developer and think this whole iNonense thing is useless, the main library for DS also got a lot of improvements, cleaner coding, and collaboration on Google Code.
What about using OpenSoundControl instead of MIDI? On the iPhone/iPod, it’s a non-issue: OSC is a networking protocol, so it’s already wireless-ready. On the DS, DSMI’s source includes an OSC example, and unlike the MIDI in DSMI, you don’t need a piece of software receiving on the computer end.
Now, any suggestions for how to broaden the acronym DSMI so it’s more accurate? Digital Signal Multimodal Interface? Digital Sound and Music Interface? Damned Sweet Machine Instrument?
Or, to go recursive: DSMI Sure Means Ideas.

Check ashikase's awesome Backgrounder (on Cydia).

TechnoBox is sweet! Took me a few days to understand it but I'm getting the hang of it. Very educational as well for those of us young pups. It would be nice if one could export their creations ( be it pattern/sequence) to Beatmaker , for further sequencing. Having a whole drum sequence on one pad would be slick , plus it gives us the chance to throw effects over it. Incidentally, the GUI on this is 20 times better than BM, well done !
Keep up the good work |

also, the iPhone/Ipod Touch, is far from being powerful enough to run several seperate App's at once. especially since it's only currently got 128mb of memory, and the OS alone uses AT LEAST half of that (and more, unless you constantly kill processes such as mail, and safari... after each use)
Apple made a big mistake when they did not design an OS for their mobile devices which would be capable of running multiple App's, and they made a FAR bigger mistake, by providing sooooo little OS memory for App use. |
Unfortunately, regardless of what the phone itself is capable of, the SDK does not allow multiple apps running at the same time. Too many ways for poor programming to ruin the user experience, I imagine. |

Well the SDK certainly doesn't protect you from a ruined user experience. I need only to refer to the fact that *many* SDK apps advise the user to do a hard reboot before loading the app "or otherwise it will crash". It's quite the contrary imho. I consider a non-jailbroken phone to be not fully functional; a crippled, dumbed down device / experience. So I don't care much what the SDK will allow. I care what I can do on it (and is legally allowed). Meaning (and I cannot repeat it enough), use Lance Fetters' (ashikase) awesome "Backgrounder" to run multiple processes. Fwiw: Apple also has Phone, Mail, iPod running in the background (some pigs are more equal, eh?). For e.g. doing a live performance with tB you'd rather want to kill those processes completely; Apple won't let you, you'll have to do that yourself. So: for the optimal user experience, you *have to* bypass (some of) the restrictions Apple is attempting to impose.
Btw: some people are working on inter-app communication as well. Apple has promised that too, but has been utterly silent about it for a loooong time now. But most devs realize that Apple routinely lies to them (re: SDK: "you'll have the exact same tools that we use internally" muahaha...). _________________ Macbook Pro 5,1 2,4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA 9400/9600M 256 MB; dual boot running OS X 10.7.x / 10.6.x. iPhone 1st gen. 8GB (2 x); iPhone 3GS. |

I'll be a new user in about 3 days, just waiting for my iPhone to show up....
but I've read through the list of wants, and want to add these, I had more, but your
others users have already mentioned them, so I won't re-ask(but if you are looking for my vote, I'd be happy to let you know which ideas I like):
1)
tap tempo - great for a dj to match to what he's playing. Since their is no BPM pitch control other then in whole bpm numbers, tap tempo will be useful for matching the beat. Even if your not a dj, if you have a specific tempo in mind
2)
use accellerometer to control filter cutoff and resonance (trademark the ides )
or make it variable, so you can choose what it controls, maybe env or accent
3)
track mutes' for drums and 303, i saw the drum track mute listed, but to be able to
mute any of the sounds real time, can greatly add to the performance aspect of it
4) I didn't see it listed here, but saw it on the other thread, the saving and loading of BPM and other parameters
Cheers... Can't wait to actually start playing with it.

| Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it seems that when I'm playing back a sequence series (doubletap play), I can't get it to cleanly insert a manual step. It seems like it overrides with the running sequence almost immediately. It would be better if it would allow you to "adlib" during a sequence. |

I know you were only joking, but let me enlighten you on a little bit of intellectual property law anyway:
* you cannot trademark an idea;
* you cannot patent an idea either, but you can patent a specific implementation;
* but you cannot patent something which is not new -- and this has been done before a few times already;
* neither can you patent something which is obvious (to a "person having ordinary skill in the art") - and imho this is /totally/ obvious;
* and even if it would have been both new and non-obvious, you would now have spoilt that possibility by talking about it in public -- thereby ensuring that it is not a new idea anymore.

Definitely need to add an option to disable the auto shutoff of the phone. The screen goes dark, and so does the music |

Yes, this will be fixed in the next update. Until then you need to physically touch the iphone every few minutes to keep it wake. |

| I would love a save function, where i could save sequence #0-???, as an mp3 file in the music section of my itouch. which I should then be able to access and play like any other song...or am i missing how to do that already? |

Now that the OS 3.0 features have been let out of the bag, I'd love to see
an ability for the Technobox to sync up with other Technobox users via the new P2P Bluetooth API...
Actually better yet, get together with the maker of Beatmaker so that a user on 1 iPhone/iTouch can be running Technobox, synced up to another user on another iPhone/iTouch running Beatmaker with the 2 synced up... with the same Bluetooth API...
There needs to be a common Bluetooth sync for all iPhone Music apps to use..
