| ABL sounds closer to a real TB-303. The Phoscyon thingy sounds quite thin by comparison. But then the Phoscyon does boast lots of features. I guess it depends what you want. |

some time ago, i think i overheard someone pretty qualified say something along the lines of "they're two different artists' renditions of what a 303 sounds like, really".
which is to say... if you want a 303, get a 303, but if you want a damn good emulation, try them out yourself and make your mind on which one sounds the best for you. i'm horribly biased for obvious reasons of course so i won't try to affect your decision. _________________ never stop loving music. |

| I've tried both and was happier with Bassline. My main issue with Phoscyon was its interface. I like the way it sounded, but bassline is by far easier to program. |

hello crew. i tested them in similar situations and the same sequence.
buttons to same positions and all round same settings;
the sound quite alike i must say.
which is good, they are good and faithful emulations.
each have their own perks on different situations/settings.
I use them both, they both have a place in my heart
hi hi !!!
peace & love

i have to disagree on that one - i recently compared the demos, played same sequences on both emulations with the same settings and phoscyon sounds thinner to me.
abl just has a more realistic accent and far more bass in total, that was what made me buy abl in the end.. great emu!

| that's my take too - phoscyon is "thinner" - maybe even better for those fluttery high-range sequences.. ABL definately has a fuller bass tone.... |

I have both. The overall sound may be different. OK.
Depends on what you like IMHO.
ABL is by far easier to program and works flawlessly while
there are still some issues with the Phosy e.g. it´s not
saving its patterns within a song automatically.
But what makes the Phosy a real nice deal is the way
the internal sequencer deals with accents and slides.
To me those "smacking" sounds sound more realistic
to the hardware standard.
Just my 2 cents.
Edit: though, reading my post again after a few days,
I found myself using ABL last night to recreate a track
of an old song of mine for a remaster.
Originally it was done with a TB, ABL does the job.
So, just get them both and you´ll be missing nothing. |

| just got phoscyon sounds good. As stated very different to the audiorealism. If i get a chance over the weekend I will do some examples of all 3 tb's (hardware/audiorealism/phoscyon). Think on first listen to phoscyon would have to say audiorealism is closer to the original sound. But phoscyon sound like it has its own uses too. |

Are you guy's talking about the ABL standard or PRO VS Phoscyon??
I don't think the PRO version even comes close to PHOSCYON. I feel that the difference in sound produced by both D16 and ABL std compared to a hardware TB is negligable and both are fantastic applications.
I really don't feel that it has to be a case of "This OR That" most acid freaks will buy both.
I feel that now, even if i could afford a hardware TB, i wouldn't. The same money would buy you a MacBook, copy of both programs and a decent MIDI controller!
I would LOVE ABL to release a souped up standard version though!
