OK..Got it.

in the input transformer:

filter target condition parameter 1
type is equal pitch bend

Action target Operation parameter 1
type set to fixed value controller
value 1 set to fixed value 1

selected module 1 active module 1 transform mode

text formatting is bad there but thats all you need.

Hi Tony,

all in all i'm quite curious to hear you playing Bass Line as lead. I imagine it would loose its character, since it's mainly derived from sequencer & filter action. Maybe you could shed light (mp3 example) on what you're after, i don't want to look over something.

Sincerly,
Ronny

I am sorry but i cant believe youve never heard 303 in any other role than that strictly defined bass line, or never heard it featured on a break.

I'm not so religiously afraid of losing something, and am a little leery of getting religious about synths and imparting all kinds of vaticanistic rules.

I'm more interested in connecting the human to the synth, which is why we have so many controllers available in the midi spec, you should really download it and check it out theres BREATH control and afterTOUCH etc.

now you can play abl with midi guitar/violin and wind controllers like the akai EVI, akai EWI, patchmanmusic MDT, and WX5. You can play it live and even play the bass lines live with a human drummer and no clock and still have intricate and interesting parts.

So, until you guys get your way and theres a constitutional amendment banning the use of pitchbend on 303 emu's, i'll feel free to continue.

just what electronic music needs, more rules!

Confused

Are you unable to have a normal conversation going on? Calm down, Tony.

(...snip...)
just what electronic music needs, more rules!

Playing 303 live IS cool. I have always liked stacking a (Kenton modded) TB-303 for the low end (ABL will do fine too!) with a couple of Alpha Juno's (in chord mode, with phat detuned pwm oscillators). Aftertouch routed to the filter cut-offs (and all responding to pitch bend), and presto, acid jazz...

But what's that nonsense about rules? Weren't you trying to make sure that the MIDI specifications - rules - would be fully implemented on the ABL? You can change the rules any time YOU want, obviously. That may take a little coding on your own part, but hey, isn't that the fun thing really?

I am glad that some of the producers of electronic musical instruments (hardware and software) have transcended MIDI specs fanatism. For example, what about the 'official' minimum amount of time between two subsequent MIDI commands? Isn't that a laugh (except if you own a ultra-cheap keyboard) ? Wink

I just use it the way Sjoerd suggested... I assumed everyone did this for pitch bend. Though I rarely use pitch bend when I want it to sound like a real 303... I mean the glides are perfect...
